Woven from natural maize in two tones — a plaited spiral centre in warm straw, ringed by a looped scalloped border in a paler cream. The two-tone construction does the work here: it gives a plain table something to look at without competing with what you put on it, and the open loops around the edge let the timber or cloth underneath show through.
